ISSUE 38 - 14 JANUARY 2008

NOT THE LANGSIDE BLOG

( or it is at langsidecollege.blogspot.com )

Welcome back
2008 will be a significant year for the college. We have an exciting start to the year with the commencement of the first phase of the construction programme. Balfour Beatty will be on site from the 28th January (although you may see some site set up activity before then) There will be a short ‘groundbreaking’ ceremony on Friday 1st February to recognise the site start and from that point we should see steady progress.
As I announced at the 60th Anniversary Farewell Reception there will be a new estate information forum set up on the college web site so that staff, students, neighbours and construction staff can receive up to the minute information and/or raise any issues or seek clarification on any of the build programme and associated activity during the construction phase. The new estate information forum will be up and running from Monday 21st January. Please make use of this facility to maximise the effectiveness of the new estate and to minimise the possible disruption to all staff and students.

BUSY BEES CHILDCARE VOUCHERS

Working Parents Benefit with Childcare Vouchers

If you are paying for childcare for children up to the age of 16, you could be saving money by requesting Busy Bees Childcare Vouchers.
Langside College will be launching the Busy Bees Childcare Voucher scheme in February to help its staff with children save up to £1,196* a year on the cost of their childcare. The scheme is open to all employees who are paying for childcare.

What are Childcare Vouchers?
• They are exempt from tax and National Insurance Contributions, offering up to £1,196* a year for each parent – doubling the potential saving if both parents join the scheme
• Each parent can request up to £243 worth of Vouchers a month
• They can be used to pay for all forms of registered and approved childcare, including nurseries, nannies, childminders, au pairs, out of school clubs and holiday schemes
• Vouchers can be used at any registered nursery, not just Busy Bees branded outlets
• Childcare Voucher schemes are supported by the HMRC

How does it work?
Parents simply exchange part of their salary for Childcare Vouchers and use them to pay for childcare.

To join the scheme, parents need to call Busy Bees on freephone 08000 430 860 and help the Customer Services advisor to fill in a short form. This will then be sent to the parent to check, sign and return. Once registered, the parent’s employer will be notified how much to deduct from that individual’s salary.

Who are Busy Bees?
Busy Bees is the market leading Childcare Voucher provider and helps working parents in all types of organisations to save hundreds of pounds on their childcare costs. Busy Bees is the largest provider of childcare in the UK and is celebrating its 25th birthday in 2008.

For further information on the Childcare Voucher scheme, call freephone 08000 430 860 or log on to www.busybeesvouchers.com
